AFTER a BioActive Peel Treatment:

Your post-treatment care will impact the results of the BioActive Peel treatments. Immediately after your peel, your skin may appear red and flushed. As your skin goes through the renewal process, it is normal to experience dryness, redness and tightness, as well as some peeling or flaking within a week. You may also notice a temporarily more pronounced appearance of pigmentation as it rises to the skin’s surface. These side effects will subside quickly with proper post-treatment care, starting with the BioActive After Care Kit(retail price $20). After a peel, your skin is sensitive. You should use a gentle facial wash like UltraCalming Cleanser and always wear a sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) to minimize possible sun damage. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks to prevent hyperpigmentation. If you have visible peeling, your skin will likely begin flaking within the first 2-3 days after the peel. Never pick or peel loose skin, allow skin to naturally slough off. If skin is not sensitive, you may exfoliate using MultiVitamin Thermafoliant to polish your face. You may continue flaking for approximately 7 days post peel. Keep treated area moisturized for the duration of the peeling process by using Barrier Repair and applying a slightly thicker moisturizer such as Intensive Moisture Balance.

  • There is little to no downtime after a BioActive Peel. Treatments may cause slight redness, tightness, peeling, flaking and/or temporary dryness.
  • Most clients find it unnecessary to apply makeup, as the skin will be smooth, dewy and radiant following your treatment. If you would like to apply makeup, allow approximately an hour for the pH of the skin to stabilize before applying foundation.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.
  • Always use daily sunscreen protection.
  • Do NOT pick or pull on any loosening or exfoliating skin. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.
  • Do NOT apply ice or ice water to the treated areas.
  • Do NOT put the face directly into a hot shower spray.
  • Do NOT use a hot tub, steam room or sauna.
  • Do NOT participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
  • Do NOT direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.
  • STAY COOL! Getting overheated internally can cause hyperpigmentation.
  • Do NOT go to a tanning booth for at least 3 weeks before or after a treatment. It is recommended to avoid tanning booths completely.
  • Do NOT go swimming for a week.
  • Discontinue use of Retin-A®/Renova®/Tazorac®/Avage® for a week post-treatment. Always check with your physician before discontinuing the use of any prescription medications.
  • Do NOT have any electrolysis, collagen, Botox® or other dermal filler injections for a week.
  • Do NOT have any facial waxing or use depilatories for a week after treatment.

PRIOR to a BioActive Peel Treatment:

The better the health of your skin, the less likely you will experience sensitization or adverse reactions to a chemical peel. Cracked or dehydrated skin allows for more penetration of chemical peeling agents, which can cause itching, stinging, or burning. It is strongly recommended that every client receives at least one preliminary facial prior to receiving a BioActive Peel. A few facial treatments may be necessary to prepare your skin to ensure that you can tolerate the highly active peel ingredients. Priming the skin before performing a BioActive Peel will ensure that treatments are a success and that every client receives the best results possible while recovering faster without adverse reactions.

We offer 4 levels of professional exfoliation during our facial treatments. The BioActive Peel is an advanced exfoliation treatment.

  • Level 1: Daily Microfoliant or MultiVitamin Thermafoliant
  • Level 2: Superfoliant or Skin Exfoliant System
  • Level 3: MultiVitamin Power Exfoliant or Exfoliant Accelerator 35
  • Level 4: Expert-Strength BioActive Peel

Step 3: Peel Active

30% Lactic Acid and 15% TCA are skin resurfacing acids used to maximize exfoliation,  stimulate collagen production, and brighten skin.

Step 4:Decelerator

Skin soothing botanicals rapidly neutralize acids, calm irritation, reduce redness, and hydrate skin.

Step 1:Prep Solution

20% Salicylic Acid is a potent Beta Hydroxy Acid which removes excess surface oils and dissolves blackheads.

What is a BioActive Peel?

A chemical peel is a controlled injury to a specific skin depth with the goal of stimulating new skin growth, improving surface texture and appearance, and regenerating new epidermal layers. Chemical peels are one of the most popular professional skin care services today because they improve the quality, texture and tone of the skin. Yet many chemical peels tend to be too harsh for most skin types, resulting in significant downtime for healing and recovery. BioActive Peel is an effective skin resurfacing system that is less traumatic to the skin. You get visible results without the adverse side effects or downtime of aggressive chemical peels. It is a powerful peel that helps treat acne, reduce fine lines, and lighten darker pigmentation, revealing smoother, brighter, softer skin. It safely removes dull outer layers of skin and helps the skin underneath regenerate for better health and a radiant glow. It is an appropriate exfoliation treatment for all skin tones.

How many Bioactive Peel Treatments are necessary to see results?

Most clients experience noticeable results within 1-3 treatments, from fewer wrinkles and fine lines to smoother texture and reduced breakouts. To achieve more dramatic results, a series of multiple treatments may be necessary depending on your skin concern and skin condition. Typically, a series of 3-6 treatments are performed over a 6-12 week period. To maintain appearance, additional peel treatments should be performed about twice a year. Results will depend on your skin condition and how frequently you receive BioActive Peel treatments.

What makes a BioActive Peel different from other chemical peels?

The BioActive Peel is not just a peel. This skin resurfacing treatment works via a 4-step layering application process of highly active ingredients.

This effective chemical peel produces visible results without triggering the adverse side effects of aggressive peels so there is no downtime. Treat aging skin, acne and epidermal pigmentation with a series of peel treatments. BioActive Peel works in sequential steps via an active layering process to safely exfoliate the topmost layers of the skin revealing smoother, brighter, healthier, more radiant skin.
